Put your heart in it it, fight for your ideas. Consume, be inspired, collaborate &#38; add to the conversation. Dream, create, repeat. This is the mantra that fed the intro, which was also a (delicious) blast to make.

		<description>For the upcoming UFC season now on FX. I asked for graphic, the client asked for POV, and the studio asked for destruction, so I ended up with this cool set. The POV is from the type blocks, that are getting pummeled by the oponent. As the hits connect, the camer a swings out of POV to show the scene wide and in glorious slow motion - shards, cracks, twinkling debris all flying away. As the fighter goes in for the next punch, the speed ramps back up and the camera swings back in to the POV of the type to take the hit. Fun painting these :)

Huge 36 x 20 physical/digital painting with gouache, wax, pastel, photoshop, &#38; reference for some of the hair and the 15th century hermetic motif. Portions of the painting have a subtle 3d effect worked in too. Best viewed in Safari as the colors are a bit dark scaled all the way down here.

It's the 3rd, and one of my favorites of in the 12 part gallery print God Cycle series - badass virgin Athene. For roughly 8000 years she's held allure in the complexity of her character - wise, creative, caring and sensual, but warring, deliberating and chaste..

The rest of the series will be posted soon, this one's going up first to let you know that it's also available as a print over at Society6, who are hosting a Young Guns Curated store.

		<description>
	*Pops champagne* - I just got named a 2011 "Young Gun" awardee from the Art Directors Club!

    It's a folio award given to art directors and creatives under 30, from a group that has been around for almost as long as advertising itself.
    After all this time working, this was the first award I've ever entered in, so super stoked and honored.

    There's a huge exhibition launch party in NY, a show traveling internationally over the next year or so, a nice book, and a shiny adc cube.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/100426/1870001/LineBreak_500.png" border="0" width="500" height="1" width_o="500" height_o="1" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/100426/1870001/LineBreak_500_o.png" align="left" /&#62;

The best part was getting to meet so many amazingly talented, genuinely excited, and friendly people though.

Some pics from the opening night:

		<description>This was an open/ident/brand package that got canned before it was finished, but its cute heck so it's time it got some attention. The network wanted something that could unite their online and multiple demographics along with potentially, lead to the overall network with endtags and ids as well.

I was asked for a "small world" style to illustrate cues from each show during promo Endtags. This intended to be used on IDs and the NBC website as an interactive landscape for their programming and web community.

It was dropped while we were setting up a motion test, so we finished it into our own little world (with some assists on modelling and rendering from my then buddy in training Kenny Lutz) which you can see below too (try to find bigfoot!).

		<description>A quick couple of sets for a 60s type driven spot for Disney. It was about their more humanist, conservation, charity and education related programs. There's a few different styles in the frames that the client chose from.

All about clever quick transitions as per usual with these sorts of animations, so these frames served to just set the mood for the final piece. I tried to make it stand on its own feet though, thinking out each with relation to the brand properly.

		<description>A promo for the equal parts ridiculous and awesome Red Bull Flugtag event leg at Tampa Bay, Florida. It's more or less adult go-karts that you launch off a pier, in hope of the thing "flying" as far as possible. Most carts (known as flugtags) don't even make it to the edge of the pier, let alone get much air time, but when they're good, they're hilarious to watch. Fun, albeit idle, 1st world shennanegins ensue!

The idea was to capture the over-the-topness from the backyard design &#38; blueprint stage, through to the even more exaggerated launch, while showing some of the local flavor of Florida in the same energetic spirit. The gators still make me giggle.

First up are a few more illustrated alt 'silk shirt' treatments I preferred. Best viewed in Safari otherwise they're a bit saturated.

		<description>A snowboard top sheet design for the very badass Chemical Storm guys. Their boards are the craziest I've seen - a unique stealthy shape like nothing else on the mountain. This was for their Women's '12 "Octorocker" board. 'River Wind' is look at a more spiritual side of the mountain, Gaia's current of energy ebbing and flowing underneath.

Had me painting for a while to get the level of detail this one needed for such a big print. Total meditative experience though, glad to have had the chance to do it, and the wife looks forward to riding it once it's off the line :) Here's some at more detail at only 20% (!) scale:
